Jay Kramer Discusses Ransomware in Cybersecurity Article

New York Partner Jay Kramer recently discussed a ransomware attack against Hancock Health in a Healthcare Info Security article titled “Why Some Healthcare Entities Pay Ransoms.”

Kramer said the attack, in which the hospital paid a $55,000 ransom in bitcoins, stresses the need for organizations to test data recovery plans before an actual attack. He also added that law enforcement generally advises against paying ransoms because it can lead to more cybercrime.
