Francis Pileggi Quoted In Law360 Article on Subpoenas Issued in Twitter-Musk Dispute
Wilmington, Del. (August 16, 2022) - Wilmington Managing Partner Francis G.X. Pileggi was recently quoted in a Law360 article titled “Subpoena Blizzard Sets Stage For Musk-Twitter Trial In Del.” The article discusses the flurry of subpoenas that have been sought in the Twitter-Musk litigation, which involves Twitter’s attempt to prevent Mr. Musk from terminating his $44 billion agreement to purchase the social media company.
As the article explains, almost 90 subpoenas related to Twitter’s suit “blew through the Chancery Court” over the last month, targeting “captains of finance, titans of tech, friends of Elon Musk, defenders of Twitter, financial firms, banks, lawyers, and more.” Mr. Pileggi shared with Law360 his recollections concerning an expedited case in the Delaware Court of Chancery – Lions Gate Entertainment v. Image Entertainment – in which 26 subpoenas were sought. In comparing that case to the Twitter-Musk suit, Mr. Pileggi noted that although the Lions Gate case "may be comparable in some ways . . . there are not that many cases involving $44 billion...."
