Ellen Greiper & Greg Katz to Speak at Advisen Big Nasty Claims Conference in New York
New York, N.Y. (August 19, 2019) – New York Partners Ellen H. Greiper & Gregory S. Katz will speak at the Advisen 2019 Big Nasty Claims Conference taking place September 19 at New York Law School in Manhattan. Beginning at noon, this half-day conference, aimed at risk managers and claims professionals, will focus on the phenomenon of big, nasty claims in the casualty sector and other related topics.
As a member of the Big Nasty Claims Conference Advisory Board, Ms. Greiper has played an integral role in the planning and development of the conference’s agenda, which will explore loss trends and other insights on a range of casualty claims matters. She will also act as co-host for the afternoon’s events.
At 1:30 p.m., Mr. Katz will join a panel titled “Nuclear Fission: What causes explosive verdicts?” He and his fellow panelists will discuss the rising frequency of “nuclear verdicts” by analyzing factors such as changing jury demographics, a growing distrust of corporations, and an increasingly aggressive and well-organized plaintiff’s bar that may be influencing the size of awards. The panelists will also explain what can be done to keep a bad claim from spiraling out of control.
