Donavan Eason Appointed to State Bar of Georgia’s Formal Advisory Opinion Board

Savannah, Ga. (July 27, 2021) – Savannah Associate Donavan K. Eason was recently appointed to serve on the State Bar of Georgia’s Formal Advisory Opinion Board for a two-year term as a representative of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD). Mr. Eason's term will run through the end of the 2023 Bar year.

The Formal Advisory Opinion Board is composed of 18 lawyers appointed by the President of the State Bar of Georgia to assist in drafting ethics opinions. The Board drafts proposed advisory opinions concerning a proper interpretation of the Georgia Rules of Professional Conduct or any of the grounds for disciplinary action as applied to a given state of facts. After receiving comments and feedback from the legal community, the Board then files its Proposed Formal Advisory Opinion with the Supreme Court of Georgia. The Court reviews the proposed opinion and, if adopted, issues a Formal Advisory Opinion. Prior advisory opinions can be found here.

Mr. Eason is a member of Lewis Brisbois’ General Liability, Transportation, and Hospitality Practices. He regularly defends actions pertaining to premises liability, automobile/trucking liability, and product liability. Mr. Eason is an active member of the YLD of the State Bar of Georgia and serves as Director of the YLD's Committee on Disaster Legal Assistance. He recently received the Award of Achievement for Service to the Bar for his work on that committee.
