Bert Hummel Leads Georgia Bar’s Young Lawyers Division in Statewide "Legal Food Frenzy" Fundraiser

Atlanta, Ga. (April 27, 2021) - Atlanta Partner Bert Hummel, in his current role as President of the Young Lawyers Division (YLD) of the State Bar of Georgia, is participating in the 10th Annual Georgia Legal Food Frenzy, a two-week fundraising drive that benefits food banks across the state. This year’s virtual event, which was covered by the Daily Report (part of Law.com), is co-sponsored by Georgia’s Office of the Attorney General, the State Bar of Georgia’s YLD, and the Georgia Food Bank Association.

The Legal Food Frenzy is structured as a competition amongst the legal community in Georgia, including law firms, legal agencies, and courts to see who can raise the most money for their regional food bank through online fundraising. This year, the purpose of the competition is to help food banks respond to the ever-increasing number of Georgians who need food assistance due to economic challenges arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants are seeking to exceed the record-breaking $854,705 that the event raised last year.

In discussing the importance of the Legal Food Frenzy and the support it has received, Mr. Hummel stated, “I am once again blown away by the philanthropic support by the members of the State Bar of Georgia. We have more members of the State Bar of Georgia registered to compete in the Legal Food Frenzy than ever before.” He added that the support that the Georgia Bar provided this year was “encouraging and a testament to our membership. I have complete faith that our donations will continue to grow this year and we will surpass our record-breaking fundraising from 2020.”

Online donations can be made here until Friday, April 30, at which time anyone interested in donating may contact Mr. Hummel for instructions on how to do so through May 5.

Mr. Hummel is a member of Lewis Brisbois’ General Liability and Workers' Compensation Practices. He has extensive experience in litigation and has handled hundreds of claims in his practice for a variety of insurance companies, Fortune 500 companies, large corporations, small businesses, and self-insurers, as well as TPAs, PEOs, and staffing companies. Mr. Hummel was recently sworn in as the 74th President of the State Bar of Georgia’s YLD.
