Alan Rupe to Join Panel at EEOC Training on Conducting Workplace Investigations

Kansas City, Mo. (June 28, 2021) - Wichita and Kansas City Managing Partner Alan L. Rupe will join a virtual panel discussion on June 29 as part of an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) training session on ethical considerations when conducting fair and unbiased workplace investigations. Mr. Rupe's panel, titled "How to Conduct an Effective EEO Investigation and Avoid Legal and Ethical Pitfalls," will begin at 10:05 a.m. CT, following the day's opening remarks.

During this discussion, Mr. Rupe and his fellow expert panelists will cover what situations may trigger internal investigations and how to assess the appropriate scope of the investigation. They will also discuss how to handle confidentiality concerns and understand potential waivers of attorney-client work product and privilege, as well as how to identify actual or perceived conflict of interests.

Mr. Rupe is vice-chair of Lewis Brisbois' Labor & Employment Practice and an experienced trial lawyer who is consistently recognized for excellence by local, state, national, and international rankings organizations. His practice embraces every aspect of employment law, from day-to-day counseling and training to administrative agency proceedings, civil litigation, and trials. He has litigated several landmark employment cases, including handling the first Title VII jury trial and the first RICO case in Kansas.
