Michael Yakumithis


Michael Yakumithis is an associate in the San Francisco office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the General Liability Practice. Mr. Yakumithis' additional practice areas include Transportation and Construction Defect.

Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Yakumithis focused his practice on construction defect litigation, and insurance law, defending insured and self-insured business entities in litigation and pre-litigation matters. He has represented clients at all stages of litigation, including mediation, arbitration, negotiation, trial, and through appeal, in both state and federal court. Mr. Yakumithis also has significant experience in construction defect litigation, including the representation of developers and contractors in complex, multi-party actions.

Michael has filed and successfully argued many dispositive motions, in both state and federal court, in addition to preparing successful motions at all stages of litigation. He was also integral in securing a defense verdict for a high-profile client in the San Francisco Superior Court following a multi-party bench trial on a bifurcated claim for construction defects with damages in excess of $20 million.

While in law school, Michael worked as a judicial clerk in the Housing and Environmental Court in Lucas County, Ohio. As a student, Michael worked full-time as a judicial clerk and also served as a Contributing Articles Editor for the University of Toledo Law Review, was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta Society, and served as a Legal Research and Writing Teaching Assistant. Prior to law school, he earned a Bachelors degree in Paralegal Studies with a concentration in Litigation, cum laude, from the University of Toledo.
