David Szlanfucht

Partner

David Szlanfucht is a partner in the Kansas City and Wichita offices of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the firm's Labor & Employment Practice and Asbestos Litigation Practice. He concentrates his litigation practice in the areas of asbestos litigation, employment and labor law, general liability/negligence, premises liability, construction, contracts, product liability and insurance defense.

For more than 20 years, David has defended numerous clients in asbestos litigation throughout federal and state courts in Illinois, Missouri, Indiana, Wisconsin, Kansas, South Carolina, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. He has also represented insulation manufacturers, brake and friction material manufacturers, pump, valve and gasket manufacturers, drywall and joint compound manufacturers, distributors, engineers, architects, premises owners, and contractors. David has defended his clients in hundreds of depositions of plaintiffs, corporate representatives, co-workers, medical providers and experts. On behalf of his various clients, David has negotiated settlements and dismissals in countless cases with most of the nationally-known filers of asbestos lawsuits.

David advises and represents employers in various aspects of labor and employment law, including defending charges of discrimination and lawsuits brought under federal and state law. In addition, David has experience handling all types of insurance defense cases, defending architects and engineers, and defending retail businesses, apartment complexes, and other premises owners in a wide variety of premises liability actions, including claims for slip/trip-and-fall and dog bites. 

David specializes in mitigating risks for clients through diligent trial preparations, motion practice and settlement negotiations. His philosophy is based on treating his client's legal problems as if they were his own, providing objective and straightforward advice while serving as a forceful advocate on behalf of each of his clients. David strives to work personally with his clients to find innovative and practical legal solutions that keep the client’s business goals in mind.
