Bruce C. Smith is a partner in the Portland and Phoenix offices of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Medical Malpractice, Healthcare, and Long-Term Care Practices. Mr. Smith has extensive experience handling medical negligence and elder abuse cases for doctors, hospitals, long-term care facilities, registry providers, and management companies. Mr. Smith has represented doctors, podiatrists, psychologists, nurses, nurse practitioners, midwives, chiropractors, and behavioral health providers before state licensing boards. He has also conducted investigations of potential criminal conduct alleged to have occurred within a healthcare facility. Mr. Smith counsels clients regarding federal and state regulatory compliance, patient privacy, peer review/quality assurance, and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). He has handled numerous matters pertaining to enforcement of health care arbitration clauses at both the trial court and appellate levels.

Mr. Smith has first and second chair trial experience, as well as extensive experience in arbitrations and private mediations. Mr. Smith has briefed and argued cases before the United States Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit, the Arizona Supreme Court, and Arizona Court of Appeals.
