Md. Ashfaquzzaman "Shawn" Choudhury is a partner in the New York office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the General Liability Practice. He handles all types of general liability cases involving catastrophic injuries and complex claims on behalf of some of nation’s largest companies and municipalities. Mr. Choudhury focuses his practice on litigation involving Municipal Liability, New York Labor Law, Premises Liability, Transportation, and Dram Shop matters. Mr. Choudhury also defends businesses in a broad range of digital accessibility lawsuits under Title III of the ADA and similar state laws. He also advises businesses on ADA compliance with respect to company websites and mobile applications. A growing percentage of his practice also involves helping clients who are providers for the real estate and mortgage industries in litigation and compliance matters.
Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Choudhury was a Senior Counsel for the City of New York Law Department, Office of the Corporation Counsel where he exclusively handled high-exposure tort claims brought against the City of New York and its various agencies including, among others, negligent supervision, hiring and retention claims involving allegations of abuse, and §1983 civil rights claims.
Mr. Choudhury earned his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude.
Mr. Choudhury is a member of the South Asian Bar Association. He is a former Vice-President of Sponsorship for the South Asian Bar Association and former Chair of their Litigation Committee.
