Md. Ashfaquzzaman "Shawn" Choudhury is a partner in the New York office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the General Liability Practice. He focuses his practice on litigation involving municipal and quasi municipal entities, roadway/sidewalk defects and design, premises liability, commercial motor vehicle, and dram shop cases.
Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Choudhury was a Senior Counsel for the City of New York Law Department, Office of the Corporation Counsel where he handled litigation in high-exposure tort claims against the City of New York. He has extensive experience in defense of matters including premises liability, negligent supervision, §1983 civil rights claims, and other complex actions brought against a wide spectrum of New York City agencies.
Mr. Choudhury earned his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. While in law school, Mr. Choudhury worked with the Housing Rights/Law Reform Advocacy Clinic where he participated in the federal anti-discrimination lawsuit against the Village of Farmingdale that resulted in the creation of affordable housing units for displaced Latino residents.
Mr. Choudhury is also Vice-President of Sponsorship for the South Asian Bar Association and chair of their Litigation Committee.
