Joel A. Richmond is an associate in the Dallas office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the General Liability and Complex Business & Commercial Litigation Practices. He is a seasoned litigation attorney who joined the firm as a Senior Associate in February 2019. His practice is devoted to litigation in a variety of areas, including business litigation, insurance defense, professional and medical malpractice defense, general liability, personal injury, and construction litigation. In addition, Mr. Richmond provides corporate guidance and counseling to a select number of business entities and individuals. Shortly after joining Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Richmond was selected to join the catastrophic injury trial team. As a member of this elite trial team he has been hired at various stages from the date of a severe accident up to shortly before a trial setting when clients are looking to strengthen or modify their trial defense or strategic approach. In an effort to further help clients evaluate and resolve high exposure claims, Mr. Richmond has prepared mock trial presentations that have successfully predicted outcomes at trial. These predictions routinely facilitate cost-effective settlements when negotiations have otherwise failed, and they provide clients with a realistic preview of common plaintiff strategies and arguments premised upon theories such as negligent hiring, training, entrustment, retention and supervision, gross negligence, violations of policies and procedures, post-accident spoliation and cover-up. With each and every case Mr. Richmond is hired to work or consult upon, he immediately focuses on anticipating and adapting to the various tactics of the plaintiffs' bar and providing his clients with a sound, judicious, and cost-effective approach toward a successful defense and resolution of the same.

Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Mr. Richmond practiced law at a leading regional defense litigation firm where he tried three cases to verdict before juries in Dallas, Smith and Harrison counties as lead and sole counsel.
