Elizabeth A. Opara is an associate in the Houston office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Corporate Practice. Ms. Opara currently concentrates her practice on business and commercial transactions, business disputes, and crisis management. Prior to law school, Ms. Opara worked for a large non-profit based in Accra, Ghana. In that position, she strategized with a team to incorporate a business model that aided the non-profit in achieving its quarterly financial goals. The position she had with that organization also allowed her to understand and offer solutions to issues faced in the day-to-day operations of an international organization.

Ms. Opara's interest in corporate law was sparked while working for a company owned by Fortune 50, Berkshire Hathaway. During this time, she worked face-to-face with various departments in the company to resolve legal issues surrounding; FRA regulation, labor relations, mergers and acquisitions, environmental, and land issues. Additionally, Ms. Opara worked with a Healthcare Business Process Outsourcing company that managed several hospitals across the nation. In that role, she was tasked with analyzing and drafting; master service agreements, non-disclosure agreements, business associate agreements, licensing agreements, IT vendor contracts, and general contracts.

While in law school, Ms. Opara received several accolades for her achievements in trial advocacy and was recognized by the White House for her accomplishments as a HBCU Competitiveness Scholar. She was also able to leave a legacy in the form of a scholarship in her name for upcoming students who need financial support.
