Carolyn L. Mitchell is an associate in the Houston office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Medical Malpractice and Healthcare Practices.

She is a healthcare attorney with experience in both healthcare regulatory and transactional matters as well as healthcare litigation and administrative law matters. Carolyn has represented individual healthcare providers, healthcare conglomerates owning multiple facilities, health care management companies and stand-alone acute care and long-term care facilities as well as home health and hospice providers. She addresses the legal challenges of her clients with an understanding of the regulatory requirements of health care organizations and a background in facility operations. She worked in large hospital systems administratively prior to becoming an attorney. Her direct experience with healthcare facility operations, healthcare providers, and healthcare transactions, as well as her understanding of the healthcare regulatory environment enables her to navigate the legal challenges and administrative proceedings common in healthcare including medical malpractice cases, state board license matters, as well as legal challenges affecting facility operations generally.

Having maintained a career in healthcare law since first being licensed and combining her legal skills and education with prior healthcare operations experience following a masters health administration, Carolyn has both breadth and depth of understanding the operations of all types of healthcare entities including the needs of their executive staff and clinical staff. She can readily identify issues and develop and implement strategies with her clients providing them with the representation they need to succeed in the highly regulated and ever-changing field of health care.

Carolyn is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, and is licensed by the Texas Bar, the Oklahoma Bar and the Tennessee Bar.
