Todd R. Meadows is a partner in the Charleston office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the General Liability Practice.

After graduating from the WVU College of Law, Mr. Meadows returned to the Huntington, WV area where he has resided primarily since 2004. As a young attorney, Mr. Meadows developed a reputation for trying difficult cases to jury verdict. During his early years of practice, Attorney Meadows served on a trial team that obtained a defense verdict in a high-profile, multi-million dollar lawsuit alleging catastrophic brain injury. Mr. Meadows also served as lead counsel during a jury trial where his client received a defense verdict and tried several other cases alleging occupational injury where his client received more favorable outcomes from juries than the amounts that were last demanded at mediation. As he became more experienced, Mr. Meadows also litigated a number of high-profile criminal cases including two major felony cases where his clients were exonerated by Cabell County juries.

Mr. Meadows has practiced, and continues to practice in state and federal courts representing civil defendants in disputes concerning construction law, personal injury law, contracts law, and products liability law throughout West Virginia. During the last several years, Mr. Meadows has litigated several complex construction cases involving excavation projects, highway design projects, demolition projects, and disputes involving residential and commercial developers. Mr. Meadows has similarly defended a number of products liability lawsuits in the coal mining industry, lawsuits alleging defectively designed consumer products, and lawsuits against retailers alleging defective conditions of the premises.

Attorney Meadows has also litigated, and continues to litigate, numerous insurance coverage disputes and bad faith lawsuits throughout West Virginia. As a young attorney in a large civil defense firm, Attorney Meadows developed a detailed understanding of insurance law through authoring coverage opinions, filing declaratory judgment actions, and being mentored by talented and experienced litigators. In 2010, Mr. Meadows co-authored a comprehensive insurance coverage summary about insurance law in West Virginia for a dispute involving nearly One-Hundred-Million Dollars in damages that was later presented to an arbitration panel in Europe. Mr. Meadows has also authored several coverage briefs that were adopted in disputes involving the interpretation of insurance policies by various courts throughout West Virginia, and is currently defending a number of lawsuits that allege common law and statutory bad faith.

Attorney Meadows is an active member of his community and church in Huntington, WV. He has served a volunteer youth basketball coach, and previously assisted a nonprofit organization involving youth athletics. Mr. Meadows is also an avid mountain biker, and enjoys recreational activities at the beautiful state parks throughout West Virginia.
