Ryli McDonald is an associate in the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice. Ryli works closely with clients across various industries to prepare for and respond to data security incidents. Ryli assists organizations in preparing, updating and testing information security programs and incident response plans. When assisting clients in responding to a data security incident, Ryli provides clients with the necessary guidance and tools to mitigate risk and effectively respond to the incident, including coordinating with third-party forensic investigators and preparing crisis communications. Ryli also assesses consumer notification and regulatory reporting obligations pursuant to various state and federal statutes, prepares notification communications, and responds to regulatory investigations. Ryli utilizes her background and education in business and data privacy law to provide comprehensive counseling. Ryli also tracks legislative developments in the data privacy and cybersecurity area. She holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US) credential through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
Ryli earned her J.D. in 2019 from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law. During law school, Ryli served as Vice President of Programs for the Venture Law Society, a student organization providing experiential and educational opportunities to students interested in startup law and technology trends, including the intersection of blockchain and the law. Ryli worked as a law clerk for various firms and large companies throughout law school, where she gained experience in employment and civil litigation, as well as corporate transactional work.
Prior to law school, Ryli received her B.S. in Accounting from Colorado State University where she completed a senior honors thesis and graduated as a Business Honors Scholar. Ryli’s background in business and accounting enables her to clearly communicate with her business clients and understand the business implications of legal issues.
