Alexis Kirkman is an associate in the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Practice. Her practice focuses on data privacy and cybersecurity matters as well as on corporate compliance, government investigations and civil litigation.
Alexis advises companies as they anticipate cybersecurity threats, assists them in complying with the requirements of state, federal, and international data breach notification statutes, and represents them as they address data security incidents, external communications such as consumer or employee notifications or regulatory reporting, and related third party litigation. She has extensive experience both in-house and as outside counsel representing private and public entities of all sizes in technology (including SaaS, PaaS), information/data, health care, payment card industry, and financial services sectors, among others. Alexis also provides a proactive approach to data privacy and security by counseling clients to build and maintain privacy programs including preparing privacy policies, terms of use, data privacy addendums, Business Associate Agreements, and other contract terms and conducts contract reviews. She regularly counsels clients in incident response planning, risk assessments, data mapping, best practices in information privacy and data security, trainings and countering cyber incidents/threats. Alexis tracks emerging cybersecurity risks and trends, and follows legislative developments and regulatory enforcement matters in the data privacy and security space. Her background in technology, complex commercial litigation and corporate compliance and internal investigations provides her unique insights into managing technically complex crises.
Alexis is recognized as a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP) by the International Association of Privacy Professionals and holds Certified Information Privacy Professional/United States (CIPP/US), Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E), and Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) credentials.
