Jordan Ford is a partner in the Wichita office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Immigration and Labor & Employment Practices. She focuses her practice on the ever-evolving interplay between immigration law and employment law. Ms. Ford has represented and counseled employers of all sizes on a wide variety of immigration and employment law issues, ranging from small family-owned operations to multibillion dollar corporations. Ms. Ford advises employers on immigration and employment law issues in many different industries, including agriculture, transportation, manufacturing, technology and sports and entertainment. Ms. Ford is a frequent speaker and lecturer on issues related to immigration law and employment law.

Legal Experience

  • Employer compliance counseling and auditing, including I-9 policies and procedures; developing immigration compliance manuals; training; and conducting internal employment authorization and DOL audits
  • Counseling employers on avoiding IRCA discrimination charges and defending against OSC Unfair Immigration Employment Practice Complaints
  • Securing Employment-based Visas (H-1B, TN, business visitors, L-1)
  • Advising on investor based immigration (EB-5)
  • Preparing and monitoring all aspects of the Labor Certification and PERM Sponsorship process
  • Securing athlete visas for professional athletic teams and organizations
  • Providing counseling on Individual/family-based immigration issues including DACA and DAPA
  • Providing advice and training on issues related to ICE Inspection Notices, "raids" and Notice(s) of Intent to Fine
  • Providing day-to-day advice and training on employer and immigrant-employee rights and responsibilities
  • Successfully defending clients nation-wide against claims alleging race, gender and national origin discrimination, sexual harassment, statutory retaliation and common-law wrongful discharge
  • Drafting employment handbooks, policies and contracts
  • Providing management and employee training to ensure compliance with INA, Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, OWBPA and other state, local and federal immigration and employment laws
