Sunshine R. Fellows is a partner in the Pittsburgh office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Labor & Employment Practice.
Ms. Fellows earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, where she graduated, cum laude, in 2001, and served as a Research Editor for the University of Pittsburgh Law Review. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Fellows received her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of Pennsylvania in 1998.
Ms. Fellows has spent her entire legal career focusing her practice on various aspects of workplace law, having represented and advised management clients in the area of labor and employment law for nearly twenty years. She regularly defends employers in state and federal court litigation and administrative proceedings arising out of all aspects of the employment relationship. Her litigation practice includes providing representation to employers in matters involving claims relating to discrimination, retaliation, employment at-will, restrictive covenants, wrongful discharge, protected leaves of absence, breach of contract, defamation, and fraud before various judicial and administrative tribunals, including federal and state courts throughout Pennsylvania and West Virginia and government agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission, and the City of Pittsburgh Commission on Human Relations. Ms. Fellows also has extensive experience representing employers in state and federal wage and hour class and collective action litigation.
In addition to her litigation defense practice, Ms. Fellows also has specialized expertise in a wide array of employee relations and human resources issues. She routinely provides management clients with guidance designed to minimize the risk of employment-related legal action. Her proactive and preventative advice and counseling practice includes the development, evaluation, and implementation of personnel policies and employee relations procedures to assist employers in maintaining compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, as well as managing employee misconduct and complaint investigations. Ms. Fellows also creates and presents training programs for executives, supervisors, and human resource professionals in areas such as employee handbooks and workplace policies, preventing discrimination and harassment, conducting employee investigations, and handling terminations and other corrective disciplinary actions.
Ms. Fellows is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania and West Virginia Supreme Courts, as well as various federal courts throughout the country, including the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the United States District Courts for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the Northern District of West Virginia, the Southern District of West Virginia, the Northern District of Illinois, the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Western District of Michigan. She is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Allegheny County Bar Associations.
