William Cravens is an associate in the Denver office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the firm’s Antitrust & Competition, Intellectual Property & Technology, and Business Practices. He supplements his work in these areas with his expertise in data privacy and cybersecurity, and corporate law.

William graduated with a BSc in Neurobiology from The University of Texas in Austin in 2013. His post-graduate service on the advisory council at Cook Children’s Hospital and his experiences with the intricacies of legal and commercial interests in medical practice inspired his pursuit of a law degree. In addition to receiving various merit-based scholarships throughout his tenure at DU, William also volunteered as a mediator at the Better Business Bureau and at Adams County for small claims court disputes. While pursuing his law degree, William interned with Swisslog Healthcare, Centura Health, Arrow Electronics, and various national law firms with offices in Denver, Colorado. At these various internships, William gained valuable hands-on experience—experience which he uses when dealing with clients today.

Antitrust and Competition Law
William provides litigation and compliance advice to general counsels and corporate executives to simplify the complexities of the U.S. antitrust laws. William advises companies on matters involving federal and state antitrust issues including: antitrust compliance programs; trade association compliance; resale pricing programs; advertised pricing programs; price discrimination compliance; competitor collaborations; joint ventures; and information exchanges. William also represents companies in federal and state antitrust law matters involving: monopolization; price-fixing; bid-rigging; market divisions; product and customer allocations; and tying.

Intellectual Property and Technology
William is a trusted business advisor in counseling clients’ IP rights from creation to enforcement for a wide variety of industries including technology, entertainment, sports, fashion apparel, consumer goods, food and beverage, and hospitality. He assists in overseeing large-scale trademark portfolio management (including global brand marketing strategy, search opinions, advertising clearance, prosecution, and maintenance) for some of the world’s most famous brands. He has prepared agreements regarding ownership, indemnification, warranties, use and licensing of IP rights; confidential non-disclosure; and copyright “works made for hire” provisions.

As a litigator, Mr. Cravens serves as counsel in federal district court cases nationally involving copyright and trademark infringement, counterfeiting, false advertising, unfair competition, cybersquatting, Internet libel and gripe sites, business torts, fraud and breach of contract claims. He has enforced IP rights in social media disputes and contested proceedings before the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Arbitration & Mediation/UDRP Center.

Corporate and Commercial Law
William advises companies on a wide range of general corporate law matters, including formation, financing activities, and contract negotiation.
