Joseph C. Campo

Joseph Campo is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Professional Liability Practice. He focuses on the defense of a wide array of professionals. Mr. Campo represents California-based and nationwide insurance agencies and brokerages in the life, disability, and property/casualty contexts, in cases involving negligence, breach of contract, and misrepresentation in the procurement and administration of various insurance products.

He also handles the defense of real estate brokers, escrow companies, title insurers, appraisers and mortgage brokers as wells as registered representatives and financial advisors before FINRA, including those involving multi-million dollar claims stemming from the Bernard Madoff Ponzi scheme.

Mr. Campo has represented attorneys, accountants, and fiduciaries in ERISA litigation.

He has litigated inland marine, jewelry block, ocean marine, and cargo claims dating back to the 1993 Rex DeGeorge matter involving the scuttling of the yacht, Principle di Pictor, off the coast of Italy, which ultimately landed Mr. DeGeorge in prison.

Additionally, Mr. Campo has handled directors & officers, and employment-related matters, including the defense of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association in litigation receiving national press coverage.

He has acted as lead counsel in arbitration and trial in complex matters in both federal and state courts, including class actions and multi-district litigation.
