Travis Campbell has experience in all phases of litigation, from motion practice through trial. He has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America® for his work in commercial litigation, and his practice focuses on the defense of asbestos, toxic tort, and commercial disputes. Travis has been proud to represent a wide variety of clients, including large corporations, small businesses, municipalities, and individuals, during his career. His litigation experience includes the defense of cases pertaining to the contractual, fiduciary, employment, product liability, aviation, real estate, and financial services legal fields. A lifelong resident of Madison County, Illinois, Travis worked for the Madison County State's Attorney and an international defense firm before joining Lewis Brisbois.

Representative Matters

• Defense of a large industrial metal manufacturer in numerous cases pending in various jurisdictions in southern Illinois. Travis obtained partial summary judgment and was awarded attorney fees in an employment case challenging the validity of several hiring practices that the client considered crucial to its operational ability. In the same case, the remaining counts were tried before a jury, and Travis obtained a complete defense verdict for his client.
• Representation of numerous companies in lawsuits arising from exposure to asbestos and benzene. Travis has litigated these matters in various jurisdictions across the country with a primary focus on claims pending in Madison County, Illinois and neighboring jurisdictions. He has developed defense strategies for clients facing a wide range of liability theories, including potential legal responsibility as a premises owner, employer, manufacturer, and supplier.
• Defense of a pharmaceutical manufacturer in a breach of contract action in which plaintiffs’ experts’ forecasted over $100 million in lost profits damages. After aggressively challenging the work of plaintiffs’ economic experts via deposition and motion practice, Travis was able to exclude the testimony of plaintiffs’ experts and also obtain summary judgment on plaintiffs’ primary claims.
• Representation of financial institutions facing a variety of litigation claims. His work includes leading an internal investigation for a large bank related to the residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) practices of several predecessor entities. In addition, Travis has been asked to defend the depositions of corporate representatives and employees of multiple banking clients.
• Defense of personal injury litigation filed against product manufacturers, premises owners, and maintenance companies in numerous jurisdictions. Travis defended a client whose maintenance of a commercial door system was alleged to have caused severe injury to plaintiff, leaving him unable to work for the rest of life. Despite a lost wage claim of over $2 million, the case settled favorably upon submission to jury. Travis has also served on trial teams which have obtained defense verdicts in favor of various product manufacturers, including leading pharmaceutical and tire companies.
