John C. Babione


John Babione is a partner in the Indianapolis office of Lewis Brisbois. As a member of the Data Privacy & Cybersecurity Team, John provides compliance advisory services to clients, assisting them proactively navigate the legal landscape of data privacy and security. He advises clients on a wide range of state, federal and international privacy law, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and the European Union General Data Privacy Regulation (GDPR). John drafts data privacy policies to assist businesses communicate their practices to consumers, and he drafts contracts to address data privacy and cybersecurity issues related to the sharing and processing of information. He also helps businesses plan for an immediate response to data privacy and security incidents in order to protect confidential information. John relies upon over twenty years of litigation and experience in a variety of matters affecting businesses, including employee data theft and government investigations, to protect clients from liability in drafting policies and data privacy and security-related agreements. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional for U.S. law (CIPP/US) and a Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
