Nicole Andrescavage is an associate in the Providence office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Marine & Energy and General Liability Practices. She is admitted to practice in both the state and federal courts of Rhode Island and Massachusetts. She represents and defends an assortment of insurance carriers and/or their insureds, as well as individuals and businesses. Nicole additionally advises clients on complex commercial disputes in both regulatory and litigation matters, with an emphasis on admiralty/maritime, environmental, construction, and labor and employment law. Nicole uses her wide-ranging knowledge base to resolve disputes pre-litigation whenever possible.
Prior to joining Lewis Brisbois, Nicole previously served as General Counsel and Director of Policy and Legal Affairs for two local maritime-related entities. In that capacity, she was a member of the Commonwealth of Dominica's delegation to the International Maritime Organization, and worked on various business, education, land use, maritime/admiralty, and sanctions compliance legal projects. She also gained experience in marine/environmental, land use, energy and utility, and municipal law at a small boutique firm in Newport.
During law school, Nicole externed with the Defense Institute of International Legal Studies on Naval Station Newport, which falls under the Department of Defense and further under the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. She completed a number of institute capacity building projects on topics that contributed to the organization’s mission, including maritime security, human rights, peacekeeping operations, military justice, and law of armed conflict/use of force. She was a Rhode Island Sea Grant Legal Fellow and president of the law school's Maritime Law Society. She received the top score in the Immigration Law Clinic for her advocacy as a student attorney, representing clients before the Boston Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the USCIS.
