Matthew S. AhKao is an associate in the Newark office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Products Liability, General Liability, and Government Investigations & White Collar Defense Practices.

Prior to joining the firm, Matt gained extensive courtroom litigation experience as a New Jersey prosecutor and trial lawyer in the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office. There, he prosecuted hundreds of indictable cases to conviction and tried a number of cases to verdict. In addition to being an experienced courtroom advocate, Matt co-authored a successful brief in opposition to a petition for writ of certiorari filed in the United States Supreme Court on behalf of the State of New Jersey.

Matt clerked for Judge Frank Covello, P.J. Ch., in the Essex and Passaic County Vicinages of the New Jersey Superior Court. During law school, Matt interned at the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey, the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the District of New Jersey, and served as a spring law clerk for Judge Patty Shwartz of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
