Docket Clerk – Los Angeles

Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith is seeking two Docket Clerks to join our Los Angeles office.


  • To receive all mail requiring calendaring. Maintain up-to-date and complete electronic calendar pertaining to discovery, pre-trial, motion deadlines, depositions, etc. Depending on requirements of specific groups calendaring requirements may be extended.
  • Eligible candidates will need the following qualifications:
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Word and comfortable with a variety of computer software programs
  • Minimum typing requirement of 50 wpm
  • Must be proficient with all State and Federal Court deadlines (willing to train if candidate is a current employee of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP)
  • Must be familiar with some type of law firm calendaring system (ProLaw, Compulaw, etc.)  EDockets preferred but not required (willing to train if candidate is a current employee Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP)
  • Reliable, consistent attendance in the office is required
  • Highly organized, self-motivated and willing to learn
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • If a current employee with Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP, qualified applicant must have a minimum of 1 year experience in their current position in order to be eligible for a transfer.


  • Must be able to operate required automated equipment, including but not limited to computers, printers, photocopiers and telephone system. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but is occasionally required to walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Ability to read and write at a level normal acquired through the completion of high school in order to process informational messages
  • Understanding of the law office environment, and departmental policies and procedures
  •  Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate by telephone and in person with staff and attorneys to provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain organization in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Reliable, consistent attendance in the office is required
  • Positive, can-do attitude is a must! 


  • Graduation from high school
  • Minimum one year experience in law firm or one year experience in current position with the Firm.
