Thomas Teschner is a Partner in the San Diego office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Appellate Practice.  Mr. Teschner has extensive experience in all phases of complex civil litigation, and has defended a broad range of professional liability, premise liability, and environmental claims.  

Mr. Teschner has successfully resolved numerous malpractice claims filed against accountants, tax attorneys and real estate professionals.  He has defended claims dealing with alleged tax shelters, improperly administered trusts, improper business valuations, failure to detect internal fraud, inaccurate tax advice & compliance errors, and inadequate preparation of compilations, reviews and audits.  Mr. Teschner has also defended California real estate brokers and sales agents in cases alleging negligence, failure to warn, breach of fiduciary duty and deceptive lending practices.  

Mr. Teschner’s defense of complex environmental claims have involved allegations of soil and groundwater contamination stemming from purported historical releases of VOCs, metals, and petroleum-based products at various business and manufacturing sites in California.  Many of these claims have involved allegations of environmental nuisance, and those seeking remedial clean-up costs brought under various statues such as the federal Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act of 1980 (CERCLA), and the Carpenter-Presley-Tanner Hazardous Substance Account Act (HSAA). 

Mr. Teschner also advises clients on various tax issues and represents taxpayers in administrative and judicial proceedings.  He has helped clients navigate municipal land use restrictions and construction permitting requirements.  He has also successfully defended construction defect and landlord-tenant related claims.  

Mr. Teschner was admitted to the California State Bar in 2002 and has been a licensed California Real Estate Broker since 2004.
