David Shapiro is a partner in the Los Angeles office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Professional Liability, General Liability, and Aviation Practices.

Practice emphasizes jury and bench trials throughout Southern California, in the areas of general liability, professional liability, and aviation. Mr. Shapiro serves as his firm’s relationship partner for national clients including AutoZone Inc., ADT, Hershey, Clay Lacy Aviation, and 7-Eleven, Inc., for whom he participates as a panelist in its defense counsel strategy and oversight meetings in the Dallas area. He has defended his clients successfully in cases of wrongful death, traumatic brain injury, and (in the professional liability forum) claims of significant financial loss flowing from alleged professional negligence of insurance brokers, real estate brokers, annuity brokers, and other experts. Mr. Shapiro has more than ten years of experience representing private aviation companies in tort and contract claims.

Mr. Shapiro serves as a Mentor in the Firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Program, and has been appointed a Hearing Examiner, beginning in 1986, by the City of Los Angeles Police Commission, and the City of Los Angeles Fire Commission. In the former capacity, Mr. Shapiro serves as a civilian member of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Boards of Rights, which determine misconduct allegations brought against Department officers.

Mr. Shapiro speaks to professional and trade groups, on subjects including optimal handling of general liability claims and suits, and presents a talk about the Civil War—in his full uniform—to high school students throughout Los Angeles.
