Lewis Brisbois Welcomes Brian Cooper to Denver Office

Denver, Colorado (May 5, 2017) – Lewis Brisbois is pleased to welcome Brian Michael Cooper to its Denver office as a partner in the Entertainment, Media & Sports Practice.

Cooper is an experienced sports attorney and advisor who regularly negotiates player contracts, product endorsement agreements, sponsorship agreements, licensing and apparel agreements, and other related contracts.

As president of a championship NBA Development League team, Cooper helped negotiate the first hybrid affiliation agreement between an NBA team and an NBA D-League team.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Brian as an important part of our strategic pivot towards growing, enhancing, and expanding our nationwide Entertainment, Media & Sports Practice. Few firms can touch the breadth of this group’s abilities, and Brian’s unique passion, talent, and business acumen puts us in an even better position to serve high-profile clients on critical matters,” said Entertainment, Media & Sports Practice Co-Chair Jonathan Pink.

In addition to his sports contract work, Cooper has represented athletes, leagues, recording artists, record companies, and entertainment production companies on various intellectual property matters, including the review of software licenses, digital rights agreements, and the defense of artists and producers in copyright infringement actions.

“We are very excited to welcome Brian to our firm and to the Denver office in particular,” said Denver Managing Partner Todd Seelman. “Brian’s extensive background in corporate, antitrust, licensing, and sports management is a terrific cross-platform fit with several of the firm’s business practice groups.”

Cooper also has experience as a sports media executive, advising clients on a wide range of business matters including antitrust, advertising, risk management, licensing, marketing, sponsorship, ticketing, media, facilities, and operations.

“I’m excited to join Lewis Brisbois with its national footprint, diverse practice areas, and, most notably, the depth of experience and knowledge in the Entertainment, Media & Sports Practices,” Cooper said.

In addition to being a member of the Entertainment, Media & Sports Practice, Cooper is also part of Lewis Brisbois’ Intellectual Property & Technology, Corporate, and Antitrust & Competition Practices. He will also work closely with the Houston and New York offices while waiting to be formally admitted in Colorado.
