Richard Wolf Published in Claims Journal

Los Angeles Partner Richard Barnett Wolf recently had an article titled “What Qualifies as an Insured Collapse?” published in the Claims Journal.

The article looks at a recent Illinois case in which the court determined there was no coverage for a couple whose home was rendered uninhabitable during a botched construction project but that hadn’t actually collapsed. While a “modern view” of the term collapse doesn’t require the complete destruction of a structure, the court found that the couple’s homeowner’s policy included a clause that coverage would only be triggered from the actual collapse of the dwelling.
