Timothy Kirk is a partner in the San Francisco office of Lewis Brisbois and a member of the Insurance Law Practice. Mr. Kirk has spent his legal career exclusively in insurance coverage litigation and client claim counseling. He has extensive experience in coverage evaluation for claims under the laws of many different states as well as maritime jurisdiction, having written hundreds of coverage opinions on policies as diverse as homeowners, general liability, jewelers block, ocean marine protection and indemnity, builders risk and professional liability. He regularly advises client on claims-handling practices that maintain the duty of good faith and fair dealing. He frequently represents clients in pre-litigation claim procedures such as examinations under oath and interaction with technical consultants. He also represents clients in coverage litigation, including breach-of-contract and “bad faith” cases, interpleaders, interventions and actions for declaratory relief. He has represented both policyholders and insurers. Before attending law school, he worked as a property & casualty claims adjuster.
